A high-level delegation from North and East syria visits the German Parliament

The Department of Foreign Relations, in collaboration with the Department of Organizations’ Affairs, meets with civil society organizations in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria

The delegation of North and East Syria, consisting of the co-chair of the Department of Foreign Relations Elham Ahmed, Dr. Mahmoud al-Muslat, co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), representative of the Autonomous Administration in Europe Dr. Abdulkarim Omar, Khaled Darwish, representative of the Administration in Germany, met with Ms. Berivan Emaz, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, at the parliament building in the city of Dusseldorf.

At the beginning of the meeting, a glimpse was given of the experience of the democratic Autonoumos Administration in the territory of North and East Syria, and emphasizing that all components of the region participated in its establishment of their own free will.

Also, they highlighted the significant role played by women, whether in terms of combating terrorism and preserving security and stability in the region, or through their active participation in all the institutions of the Autonoumus Administration. And they also disscussed the political, economic and security challenges that faces the Autonoumus Administration, especially since ISIS remains active on the ground, and launches attacks on the region through its sleeper cells. And without receiving political, economic and military support from the international community, it is impossible to achieve the enduring defeat of ISIS.

In addition, thousands of ISIS members are in the detention centers and tens of thousands of their families in Al-hol and Roj camps still constitute a ticking time bomb that could explode at any moment. It is imperative for the international community to take responsibility toward this issue.

They also touched upon the Turkish attacks that traget the infrastructure and service facilities that aggravate the huminitarian conditions and endanger the lives of millions of civilians. The delegation from the Autnomouse Administration stressed on the necessity for the international community to exert pressure on Turkey to stop these crimes, noting that their continuation would lead to huminitarian catastrophe and forcing hundreds of thounsands of civilians to migrate.

Additionaly, they disscused the huminitarian conditions in North and East Syria region, and the significant challenges that the Autonoumus Administration faces in securing the basic requirments and needs of citizens, and they emphasized the need for the international community to take responsibilty by supporting the Automounus Administration to rebuild their service facilities that were destroyed by Turkey.
