Recently, Turkish threats to launch a new military aggression against the regions of northeast Syria have increased. These areas have been enjoying relative security and stability, since the military defeat of the terrorist organisation Daesh, by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in co-operation with the Global Coalition Against Daesh. At the same time, the Turkish killing machine continues to claim the lives of more innocent civilians in northeast Syria and targets the military and security leaders of the SDF, such as the leader Jiyan Afrin, the commander of the anti-terror units within the SDF and her companions, who participated in the war against Daesh with the Global Coalition to save humanity. These attacks are sometimes carried out by drones, and at other times by the daily missiles and artillery bombardment, in addition to the continuous killing, torture, kidnapping, rape and demographic change committed by the Turkish forces and their mercenaries from extremist terrorist groups in the areas they occupy.
In the face of these threats and heinous crimes against humanity, committed by Erdogan’s tyrannical and repressive regime against our innocent citizens, there are some honourable voices that oppose the Turkish policy of war and genocide, and call for dialogue and peace. Among these voices is the petition signed by hundred parliamentarians and members of the French Senate, calling on the UN Security Council to declare a no-fly zone over northeast Syria. They also called on Western countries to grant international recognition to the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), as well as stressing the need to ensure the protection of Kurdish activists and associations on European soil.
While we highly appreciate this noble gesture of the French parliamentarians, which expresses a clear commitment to human values, and a firm solidarity with the rights of our peoples to free and dignified life, we call upon the international community, the public, governmental and civil organisations, and all European parliamentarians, to support the initiative of the French parliamentarians, and to make it a means to repel the Turkish aggression. We also call upon you to stand by our side in the struggle we are waging against terrorism to establish peace and stability in northeast Syria and throughout the region, and to protect and consolidate our project, which is based on peaceful co-existence amongst peoples, freedom, democracy, and human rights, in accordance with international norms and conventions.
